Solgov's war on the frontier continues!
In the past week the controversial Space elevator compliance act was passed threatening to shut down thousands of privately owned an operated space elevators and replace them with government built and maintained establishments. the Space elevator compliance act is framed as a way to improve the safety of commerce and protect planets from the collapse or catastrophic failure of space elevators, an event that is already uncommon and only occurs due to foul play or gross negligence with preexisting standards. in actuality this is a blatant effort on the part of solgov to get their boot in the door and on the neck of its more distant and more independent colonies
once solgov has established their new more expensive space elevators, and shut down or bought out privately owned ones the only one paying for it in those struggling communities will be the colonists, all well solgov's restrictions and regulations will be allowed to clamp down on their exports. banning or restricting products until not even these colonies can afford their taxes or live independent of the rule of distant and disinterested tyrants.
