For the aspiring Researcher and even the Chief Science Officer, this comprehensive guide to the general laboratory and its equipment is going to explain how to safely operate the equipment provided to you by the Lazarus Foundation.

Lazarus Lab Equipment

These machines will be the main tools you will have to your disposal, which allow you the creation of advanced support equipment, experimental technologies, cyborgs, robots and many more.

Item Description

RnD Console.png

Research and Development Console - This is the heart of your laboratory. It allows the remote operation of the Protolathe, circuit imprinter and destructive analyzer. Using this you can research new technologies using the research branch, export your data for sales and operate the Research servers.

Destructive Analyzer.png

Destructive Analyzer - This machine destroys items fed to it in exchange for valuable research points that are needed to develop the research tree. Different Items yield different amounts of points but duplicates only provide a small percentage of their worth.

Protolathe.png

Protolathe - If you researched it, this machine can print it. Anything that is not a circuit and developed by the console can be built with this machine.

Circuit Imprinter.png

Circuit Imprinter - A minor tool that can print circuit boards which are needed to construct machines. It becomes very important once you decide to expand the lab or build more advanced machines

Autolathe.png

Autolathe - It’s a standard issue autolathe as it is found in abundance across the ship. Except this one is yours. Use it to print the contents of design disks that you found or made.

It can be upgraded by doing the following:

  • Upgrading the Laser will increase material efficiency, reducing the quantity of materials you require to build things.
  • Upgrading the Manipulators will increase speed efficiency, reducing the time required to build various parts.
  • Upgrading the Matter Bins will allow it to store more materials.

Design Disk.png

Design/Data Disk - these small disks can be shoved into computers, tablets and machines and contain blueprints for objects with varying degrees of usefulness. For you their key elements are however exotic blueprints that net many research points or you can make empty ones yourself and use them to sell blueprints.

Fabricator.png

Exosuit Fabricator - This machine allows you to produce prosthetics and most importantly: Mech parts. You can then use these to construct exo-suits with different purposes.

It can be upgraded by doing the following:

  • Upgrading the Laser will increase material efficiency, reducing the quantity of materials you require to build things.
  • Upgrading the Manipulators will increase speed efficiency, reducing the time required to build various parts.
  • Upgrading the Matter Bins will allow it to store more materials.

Research and Development

Increasing your research levels is mandatory, if you wish to further the developments of science and technology that is.

To begin researching, you must familiarize yourself with your equipment. The table above explains what each piece of equipment is and what it can be used for. Afterwards, simply place items into the destructive analyzer and analyze them for SCIENCE!

By destroying items, you will yield a specific amount of research points, which can be used to research what you want in the research tree. Destroying high tech items yield more points while lower end items less points. Duplicate items will give you a percentage of what the original tech was worth, and each duplicate will lower the amount of points given per destruction.

Guide

  • At the beginning of your shift, your first priority should be to get to your lab as fast as possible (to get a head start of those darn vagabonds stealing your loot). From there you can safely scrap the second exosuit fabricator as there is no point in having two, which allows you to gain a few research points by analyzing the circuit board. From there you can then also grab a toolbelt (best belt in the game) and analyze the toolbox for 600 points.
  • Next upgrade your protolathe, quickly followed by all your other tools. To do that, research the "Parts" branch in "Engineering" which will unlock advanced computer tools that will enhance various aspects of your machines. Super matter bins, super high powered lasers and supercapacitors will improve your machines vastly, however the most important upgrade is the pico-manipulator which is found under the medical research area. This will make your machines faster and use less resources. If you upgraded the protolathe you should upgrade your other machines to make them more efficient. Once you are done you don’t really have to do much more.
  • You can now either pay other people to sell you interesting stuff and resources that you can analyze or use to build your technological marvels or you can venture out into the maintenance areas of the ship yourself and scavenge everything interesting you might find. Common or useless items can yield resources while more valuable object can be used by yourself (to commit roachicide more effectively) or be analyzed for research.
  • There are several sub areas you can look at if you already researched everything or just want to do something interesting. The entire robotics section. Self explanatory, you build exosuits and steal the roboticists job, by building cyborgs, robots and whatever you want. You can also scale things down and get familiar with the circuit printer that allows you to make small often handheld machines that can do whatever you build and program them to. An automatic health scanner? Sure. A minirobot that has a BFG5000? You got it. Alternatively you can dive into the wonderful world of bluespace technology, magic poured into a frame that allows sheer endless storage capacity and teleportation. If you want to teleport around and annoy people by appearing behind them, then this is your field. And for good last, one of the best parts: gunsmithing. Sure, you have a few guns that are quite good but the best is still to disassemble them for parts and craft new guns. You can get everything. From garbage to a self charging energy shotgun and everything in between.
  • The final thing you obviously should do is sell your products for money, use that to buy more resources and make more funny stuff until you become a technocracy that rivals even the Children of Mekhane and become richer than the Union.
